Below you can find the answers to the most frequently asked questions about Amsterdam Jewel Cruises. If you need further assistance, or information that cannot be found on this site, please contact Amsterdam Jewel Cruises Reservations.
I do not have a credit card. Can I make reservations?
Yes, you can also buy tickets at one of our ticket sales locations. A reservation may be made at these locations with either cash or debit card.
Where do I pick up my tickets?
When buying your tickets online, you can print them out at home. You will also be sent an email through which you can always print out the tickets when convenient for you. When buying tickets at our office you will be handed the tickets at the moment of buying.
Is there pre-assigned seating?
As you board, our captain and crew will direct you to your seats. There is no pre-assigned seating, so you can choose from the still available seats. All tables are next to a window and have a good view outside, so there are no seats in the middle of the boat.
Is there a dress code?
Yes, the dress code is smart casual.
Men: dress trousers - a long-sleeve (collared) shirt with an optional jacket / tie.
Women: may choose to wear slacks, a long or short elegant skirt, a pretty blouse or turtleneck.
Preferably no shorts, T-shirts, beach flip-flops, ragged or cut-off jeans, sleeveless shirts for men and sportswear.
Is the dinner freshly prepared or is it prepared before the cruise and kept warm?
All the food is freshly prepared, we do not use any precooked food. At the moment you have made your choices from the menu, the chef will start preparing the food. The food is prepared at a high quality canalside restaurant. Every course of the dinner will be picked up at the restaurant. The courses will be served out to you directly from the kitchen onto the boat, so everything is as fresh as can be.
How soon will my party begin eating on our cruise?
Once you are sitting at your private table you will receive a free welcome drink and some fingerfood. Then you can make a choice from the menu. Serving of the starters will be after approximately 30 to 40 minutes.
A global schedule:
- 19.15 pm: boarding starts
- 19.30 pm: boat cruise starts
- 19.30 pm: welcome with a free drink and fingerfood
- 20.00 pm: amuses are served
- 20.10 pm: starters are served
- 20.40 pm: main courses are served
- 21.10 pm: desserts are served
- 21.30 pm: coffee and chocolates (optional)
- 22.15 pm: end of the cruise
I am a vegetarian, can I also join the cruise?
Yes, we have a special vegetarian menu. Please mention that you are a vegetarian on the reservation form when purchasing tickets as we do need to know this in advance. We will then make sure there will be a delicious vegetarian menu for you. (It is a fixed menu, no choices possible.)
Where does the boat dock and depart from?
Amsterdam Jewel Cruises docks and departs from Singel 235, close to the Dam Square, see also our departure point. A map with the departure location is also printed on your ticket when booking online. The departure location is also the end point of the cruise.
What is the normal cruise route?
The cruise will mainly take place in the canals of Amsterdam, and will pass different points of interest, such as the Anne Frank House, the Jordan area, the Reguliersgracht with its famous 7 bridges, the skinny bridge and other places.
Is there a tour guide on board?
No, there is no tour guide. We have chosen for a relaxed and private setting, with some background music. The idea is that you will be able to enjoy the views, the food and your company without being interrupted all the time by a tour guide.
If you are interested in some information during the cruise we recommend to take a seat in the front of the boat, near the captain. The captain is a very experienced guide as well, and is always available to tell you more about the city and the scenery.
What is your cancellation/refund policy?
Amsterdam Jewel Cruises cancellation policy states that all tickets are non-refundable.
However, we do offer the option to reschedule. If you contact us at the latest minimal 5 days before the cruise date, you can reschedule to a date of your choise (subject to availability) at no cost.
What if it rains?
Amsterdam Jewel Cruises will cruise in most weather conditions all-year round. The boat has heating and the weather will not affect your cruise.
What if the cruise is cancelled?
In the case of an unforeseen event, due to which the cruise can not take place, you can choose to reschedule or to receive a full refund.
Is the boat handicap accessible?
Unfortunately the boat of Amsterdam Jewel cruises is not considered handicap accessible.
May I bring my own camera on board?
Guests are more than welcome to bring their own camera for personal pictures aboard the boat.
Where do we park our car?
Cars can be parked on the streets in the area. Car parking tickets are €5,- per hour. We recommend to come by public transport if possible.
What is included in my ticket price?
The ticket price is all-inclusive for one person, except for the drinks. Drinks can be paid at the end of the cruise with a credit card (Visa, Mastercard), debit card, or cash.
